the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
v

v
Hillside has a long tradition of serving Georgia's youth. Originally a shelter for women and children, today Hillside serves emotionally and behaviorally disturbed and abused children and their families.
Hillside's children come from counties throughout Georgia.
v
Hillside offers a continuum of services. Treatment is provided in the least restrictive environment possible in accordance with the client's needs:
- Intensive residential treatment
- Therapeutic foster care
- Community-based family preservation services
v
A treatment team that includes child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, medical personnel, a speech and language therapist, and activity therapists assesses the needs of each client. An individual treatment plan is then created, and reassessed as the client progresses.
v
Our staff is highly trained and committed to helping the individual develop and learn to use skills necessary to be successful in the community. Because each client is unique, Hillside uses a wide variety of approaches in treating them. These include:
- Individual, group and family therapy
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy for youth affected by borderline
personality disorder
- Activity therapy
- Specialized therapies including occupational trainling, anger management
and socialization skills
- Medication management
- Special education

v
Hillside's residential program also offers a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing creativity and self-esteem:
art, drama, dance, horticulture, music, photography and off-campus events.
v
Hillside's treatment success and effectiveness are exceptional. The vast majority of young people
who complete treatment in the residential program never again need as intensive a level of care.
v
To ensure a smooth transition when children leave residential care, Hillside offers the Therapeutic Foster Care Program. Here they are placed in specially selected families and given the chance to live in a healthy home environment.
v
Our community-based programs work with the youth and their family to
- Provide support when the child leaves a residential setting, or
- To intervene and provide treatment when the youth is in danger of being removed from the home.
