v     Licensed in 1987 as a Specialty Psychiatric Hospital. Intensive psychiatric treatment is provided to emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, ages 7-18, requiring long-term intervention and care.

v     Hillside focuses primarily on Georgia children, providing high quality, low-cost treatment to those most in need who otherwise might not have access to treatment services.

v     Average length of stay is 14-18 months.

v     In 1995, Hillside launched the Therapeutic Foster Care Program, which offers children with behavioral disorders, ages 5-18, the opportunity to live successfully in the community.

v     The Hillside Community Intervention Program was piloted in 1998. It provides home-based therapeutic services to clients in transition from intensive mental health treatment, and intervenes to prevent out-of-home placements for at-risk youth with mental health issues.

v  Wraparound services - in which family members and treatment staff partner to identify and mobilize strengths - address the child's treatment needs. Needed services are then "wrapped" around the family and delivered in the natural environment of home, school and community.
